Born and raised in Havana, Cuba. Irais Brito Hierrezuelo is a Bass player & Music Educator currently pursuing his interest in contemporary music. In 2014, he was awarded the North American Scholarship in the Bachelor Degree Program at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
He graduated from Havana National School of Arts & Music (E.N.A), where he earned the title of Double Bass Professor & Ensemble Performance. He began his music career mentored by his father Cecilio Brito, and took music private lessons with Juan Elosegui’s Pupil Maria Del Carmen Pena.
During music school he was member of the Coro de Camera conducted by Alina Orraca. He also was a member of Havana Youth Symphony, National Chorus of Cuba, Charanga Habanera, and recorded Tumbao Havana's first CD. After being accepted into Berklee College of Music, he has been exposed to Jazz, and performing with Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra (BSCO), Harry Porter Soundtrack Orchestra (HPSO).
Irais has studied Bass under Manuel Valdes, Orlando “Cachaito” Lopez, Juan Carlos Formell, Luis Cojal, Carlitos del Puerto Jr.(Chick Corea), David Clark (George Benson), Susan Hagen (Boston Pops/BSO), Oscar Stagnaro (Paquito D’ Rivera). Irais enjoys experimenting with diverse genres from Afro-Cuban to R&B to Hip-Hop, Pop/Rock & Blues. He is the founder of Di eVano Bass Studio/Project & Irais Hierrezuelo & Tropicalia’s Timba.
Winner of the 2010 Award for the Best World Music act at the Boston Music Conference BMC.
The group mission is not just to perform but teaching about the Cuban culture.
Di eVano headlined at Ryles Jazz Club "World Wednesdays".
Currently planning to record their debut EP (2018). Influences by J.S. Bach to Buena Vista Social Club to Emiliano Salvador, Irakere & Chick Corea.
